They provide direct supervision to plant operators and other staff during their shift and are responsible for maintaining the safety of the plant, which includes overseeing all safety-related activities and making critical decisions during normal and emergency situations. They monitor the plant’s operational status, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and addressing any issues that arise.

Participants get feedback on their decisions by rolling the mouse over each node on the map. When the hit the Run button, the model applies algorithms to calculate how many months the plant would run error-free under their scenario. They can go back and adjust their selections to run multiple times. This is how they learn how each factor affects the others in the system.
